Built for axial loads on vertical shafts, crane hooks, screw jacks and marine drives.
Thrust bearings carry load along the shaft rather than across it. Thrust ball bearings (511, 512, 513 series) suit moderate axial loads at modest speeds. Spherical roller thrust bearings (292, 293, 294 series) handle very heavy axial loads with some misalignment, as in vertical pumps and extruders.

No. A thrust ball bearing carries axial load only, so it must be used with a radial bearing that locates the shaft.
