SKF bearings in Mumbai
Genuine SKF bearings from our Kalbadevi counter: single pieces or bulk, with express delivery across Mumbai.
SKF was founded in Gothenburg, Sweden in 1907, the year Sven Wingquist patented the self-aligning ball bearing. It is one of the most widely specified bearing brands in Indian industry, from electric motors to heavy plant.
We supply genuine SKF bearings sourced through authorised channels. Popular SKF sizes come from our shelves, and anything else in the SKF range can usually be sourced within 24 to 48 hours.

How to read SKF part numbers
SKF builds a part number from the basic designation, then a hyphen before the seals or shields, then a slash before the clearance and other variants. That is why a sealed, C3-clearance 6205 is written 6205-2RSH/C3, and a shielded one 6205-2Z/C3. The punctuation is part of SKF’s style, and it is a useful check when you compare a bearing with its box.
6205-2RSH/C3
- 6205: deep groove ball bearing (6), light series (2), 25 mm bore (05 × 5). Size 25 × 52 × 15 mm.
- -2RSH: SKF contact seals, made of rubber, on both sides.
- /C3: internal clearance greater than normal, the usual choice for electric motors.
The SKF codes you will see most often:
| Code | Meaning |
|---|---|
2Z | Metal shields on both sides (non-contact) |
2RS1 | Rubber contact seals on both sides (earlier design) |
2RSH | Rubber contact seals on both sides (current design in many sizes) |
2RSL | Low-friction rubber seals on both sides |
C3 | Internal clearance greater than normal, written /C3 |
E | Optimised internal design with higher load rating |
J, M | Pressed steel cage (J) or machined brass cage (M) |
TN9 | Glass-fibre reinforced polyamide cage |
K | Tapered bore (1:12) for an adapter sleeve |
2RS1 or 2RSH? Both are rubber contact seals on both sides. 2RSH is SKF’s newer seal design and has replaced 2RS1 in many sizes. The bearing dimensions are the same, so in most applications one replaces the other directly. If your old bearing says 2RS1 and the box you are offered says 2RSH, that is normal.
Same bearing, other brands
Every maker writes the same bearing differently. Here is a sealed 6205 with C3 clearance (25 × 52 × 15 mm) in each brand’s own style, so you can match a SKF part number to its equivalent in another brand, or the other way round. Always check the full suffix before swapping brands.
| Brand | Sealed 6205, C3 clearance | Seal code |
|---|---|---|
| SKF | 6205-2RSH/C3 |
2RSH |
| FAG | 6205-2RSR-C3 |
2RSR |
| NSK | 6205DDUC3 |
DDU |
| NTN | 6205LLUC3 |
LLU |
| KOYO | 6205-2RS C3 |
2RS |

How to spot a fake SKF bearing
Because SKF is one of the most widely used bearing brands, it is also one of the most copied. A counterfeit can look almost identical and still fail within weeks. These checks catch most fakes:
- Check the number’s style. Genuine SKF packaging uses SKF’s own format, such as 6205-2RSH/C3. A box that reads “SKF 6205 2RS C3” or uses another maker’s suffixes, such as DDU or LLU, needs a closer look.
- Match the bearing to the label. The designation marked on the ring should match the box exactly, including suffixes.
- Look at the markings. Genuine markings are clean, sharp and evenly spaced. Blurred, crooked or shallow lettering is a warning sign.
- Use SKF Authenticate. SKF’s free smartphone app lets you send photos of a bearing and its packaging to SKF for checking.
- Question the price. SKF prices sit in a fairly narrow band. Large lots offered far below the market rate are a classic sign of counterfeits.

Where SKF bearings are used
In Mumbai’s workshops and plants, SKF deep groove ball bearings in the 62 and 63 series, usually with C3 clearance, go into electric motors, pumps and fans. SKF spherical roller bearings (222 E and 223 E) are common in conveyors, crushers and vibrating screens. Angular contact bearings (72 BE and 73 BE) are used in pumps and machine-tool spindles, and thrust ball bearings in vertical shafts and screw jacks. Whatever the machine, send us the old bearing’s full number and we will match it.

Questions
SKF bearings: frequently asked
What is the difference between SKF 2RS1 and 2RSH?
Both are rubber contact seals on both sides of the bearing. 2RSH is SKF’s newer seal design and has replaced 2RS1 in many sizes. The dimensions are the same, so one normally replaces the other directly.
What does /C3 mean on an SKF bearing?
C3 means the internal radial clearance is greater than normal. SKF writes it after a slash, as in 6205-2RSH/C3. Most electric motors use C3 bearings, so replace a C3 bearing with another C3.
How can I check if my SKF bearing is genuine?
Compare the marking on the bearing with the box, check that the number follows SKF’s style, and use SKF’s free SKF Authenticate app. The simplest protection is to buy from a supplier that sources through authorised channels, as we do.
Can you supply SKF bearings in bulk for a plant?
Yes. Send your full list on WhatsApp, by email or through our quote form. We price every line, offer repeat-order pricing and raise a GST invoice.
