The 6001 is an extra-light-series deep groove ball bearing with a 12 mm bore, a 28 mm outside diameter and a width of 8 mm. The 60 series is the slimmer choice for a given shaft: a smaller outside diameter and width than the 62, for machines where space and weight matter more than heavy loads.
Its bore code, 01, is one of four fixed exceptions to the usual rule: 00 is 10 mm, 01 is 12 mm, 02 is 15 mm and 03 is 17 mm. So a 6001 has a 12 mm bore. A full designation such as 6001-2RS-C3 means rubber seals on both sides and C3 clearance.
Sharing the same 12 mm bore are the 6201 (12 × 32 × 10 mm), the 6301 (12 × 37 × 12 mm), the 6801 (12 × 21 × 5 mm) and the 6901 (12 × 24 × 6 mm). They all fit a 12 mm shaft, but each needs a different housing, so check the outside diameter and width before you order.
Why 6001 prices vary
- Genuine or copy: fakes sell far below the real price and fail early. We sell only genuine bearings.
- Brand and origin: each maker, and each country of manufacture, is priced differently.
- Version: sealed, shielded, C3, stainless and low-noise versions cost more than the open bearing.
- Quantity: bulk and repeat orders are priced lower.
So we quote today’s price for each brand rather than list one number. Ask for the 6001 price on WhatsApp.

Dimensions are the ISO 15 standard size, the same in every brand and seal type.
6001 load and speed ratings
| Dynamic load rating (C) | 5.4 kN |

| Static load rating (C₀) | 2.36 kN |
| Reference speed | 60,000 r/min |
| Limiting speed | 38,000 r/min |

Other bearings for a 12 mm shaft
Same bore, different series: a bigger bearing carries more load but needs a bigger housing.
| Bearing | Size (mm) | Dynamic load C |
|---|---|---|
| 6901 | 12 × 24 × 6 | 2.91 kN |
| 6001 | 12 × 28 × 8 | 5.4 kN |
| 6201 | 12 × 32 × 10 | 7.28 kN |
| 6301 | 12 × 37 × 12 | 10.1 kN |
On a 12 mm shaft, the 6001 carries 86% more load than the slimmer 6901, and the 6201 carries 35% more than the 6001, in a housing 4 mm larger across.
6001 variants
Every 6001 has the same outside dimensions. What changes is how it is sealed, its internal clearance and its material:
- 6001 (open): no shields or seals. For gearboxes and machines where oil or grease reaches the bearing.
- 6001 ZZ / 2Z: metal shields on both sides, greased for life. For clean, fast-running motors and fans.
- 6001 2RS: rubber seals on both sides (DDU at NSK, LLU at NTN). Better against dust and moisture.
- 6001 C3: internal clearance greater than normal, combined with any of the above (e.g. 6001-2RS-C3). The usual choice for electric motors.
- S6001 / SS6001: stainless steel for wet or corrosive conditions, usually marked with an S or SS prefix (SKF uses W). Supplied on request.

Is your 6001 genuine?
Counterfeit bearings are sold in many sizes and brands, including the 6001. Check that the marking on the ring matches the box exactly, that the brand’s own suffix style is used, and be wary of prices far below the market. How to spot a fake bearing.

Questions
6001 bearing: frequently asked
What size is a 6001 bearing?
A 6001 measures 12 mm bore × 28 mm outside diameter × 8 mm width. The size is the same in every brand and seal type.
What is the SKF, FAG or NSK equivalent of 6001 2RS C3?
SKF writes it 6001-2RS1/C3 and NSK 6001DDUC3, NTN 6001LLUC3 and KOYO 6001-2RS C3. All are the same 12 × 28 × 8 mm size with rubber seals on both sides and C3 clearance.
Can I use a 6201 instead of a 6001?
Not without changing the housing. Both have a 12 mm bore, but the 6201 is 32 mm across and 10 mm wide, against 28 × 8 mm for the 6001.
What load can a 6001 bearing carry?
SKF rates the open 6001 at a dynamic load rating (C) of 5.4 kN and a static load rating (C0) of 2.36 kN, with a limiting speed of 38,000 r/min. Other brands publish similar figures. How much load it can carry in service also depends on speed, lubrication and the life you need.
