Four-Point Contact Ball Bearings supplier in Mumbai
Single-row ball bearings that carry axial load in both directions, in the QJ series.
A four-point contact ball bearing has a single row of balls, an outer ring raceway and an inner ring made in two halves. The ball touches the rings at four points when loaded, so the bearing carries axial load in both directions, with some radial load, in a space where a pair of angular contact bearings would be needed. They are usually fitted next to a radial bearing, and the outer ring is often left with a little clearance in the housing so that only the four-point bearing takes the axial load.
QJ series four-point contact ball bearings with a split inner ring, for gearboxes, pumps and compressors. SKF.
All the four-point contact ball bearings sizes we supply (36)
Sizes and load ratings are from SKF’s catalogue: d is the bore, D the outside diameter and B the width, all in mm; C is the dynamic load rating in kN. We supply SKF and FAG; ask for other brands. Prices change, so tap “Price” to ask us on WhatsApp.
QJ is a single-row four-point contact ball bearing. The digits that follow work like other bearings: the first digits give the series, and the last two multiplied by 5 give the bore in mm, so a QJ 208 has a 40 mm bore.
Letters after the number
N2 means two locating slots in the outer ring, which stop it turning in the housing, and M means a machined brass cage. Other letters differ between makers, so check the whole number on the old bearing before ordering.
Where it is used
Because the ball touches at four points, one bearing carries axial load in both directions. It is usually fitted next to a radial bearing that carries the radial load.
Buying tips for four-point contact ball bearings
Match the full designation: the QJ and the series digits, then the letters after the number.
Check the letters for the cage and for locating slots (N2) on the outer ring: they decide how the bearing is held in the housing.
They are not meant to take heavy radial load on their own.

QJ is the designation for a single-row four-point contact ball bearing. The digits after it give the series and bore in the same way as for other bearings: the last two digits times 5 give the bore in mm.
Can a four-point contact bearing replace two angular contact bearings?
In some designs, yes, because it takes axial load in both directions. It depends on the load and speed, so send us the application and the old bearing and we will advise.
An angular contact bearing carries radial and axial load together because the balls touch the rings at an angle. Here is how they work and how to order one.
