6224 Bearing – Size, Stock & Today’s Price

The 6224 is a light-series deep groove ball bearing with a 120 mm bore, a 215 mm outside diameter and a width of 40 mm. The 62 series is the everyday workhorse of deep groove bearings, balancing size and load capacity. It is the series most electric motors, pumps and gearboxes are built around.

Its last two digits, 24, multiplied by 5 give the 120 mm bore. A full designation such as 6224-2RS-C3 means a 6224 with rubber seals on both sides and C3 internal clearance, the usual choice for electric motors.

Sharing the same 120 mm bore are the 6024 (120 × 180 × 28 mm), the 6324 (120 × 260 × 55 mm) and the 6824 (120 × 150 × 16 mm). They all fit a 120 mm shaft, but each needs a different housing, so check the outside diameter and width before you order.

Why 6224 prices vary

Other bearings for a 120 mm shaft

Same bore, different series: a bigger bearing carries more load but needs a bigger housing.

On a 120 mm shaft, the 6224 carries 65% more load than the slimmer 6024, and the 6324 carries 42% more than the 6224, in a housing 45 mm larger across.

6224 variants

Every 6224 has the same outside dimensions. What changes is how it is sealed, its internal clearance and its material:

• 6224 (open): no shields or seals. For gearboxes and machines where oil or grease reaches the bearing.
• 6224 ZZ / 2Z: metal shields on both sides, greased for life. For clean, fast-running motors and fans.
• 6224 2RS: rubber seals on both sides (DDU at NSK, LLU at NTN). Better against dust and moisture.
• 6224 C3: internal clearance greater than normal, combined with any of the above (e.g. 6224-2RS-C3). The usual choice for electric motors.
• S6224 / SS6224: stainless steel for wet or corrosive conditions, usually marked with an S or SS prefix (SKF uses W). Supplied on request.

Is your 6224 genuine?
